Warner Media, LLC is an American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate headquartered in New York City. It was originally formed in 1990 as Time Warner, from the merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications. The company has film, television, cable, music, and publishing operations, and currently consists of the assets of the former Warner Communications, HBO, and Turner Broadcasting System. Its assets include WarnerMedia Entertainment (consisting of the entertainment assets of Turner, HBO, and Cinemax, as well as HBO Max streaming service), WarnerMedia News & Sports (consisting of the news and sports assets of Turner, as well as Warner Bros. (consisting of the film, animation, and television studios, New Line Cinema, the family-friendly assets of Turner, and The WB).
it was formed as part of the breakup of AOL Time Warner after a 2017 scandal involving an executive taking a position at the Druayan Commission of Trade in order to sue and break up 21st Century Fox (now Fox Corporation) in order for a more AOL-friendly media landscape. The splitting of AOL Time Warner's media assets was a part of the settlement with the Commission of Trade and Fox Corporation, thus forming WarnerMedia.
